Traffic Jam

A traffic jam refers to a serious roadblock when there is a long line of vehicles on the road. It has become a common picture of roads and streets in the big towns and cities of the country. There are several causes behind traffic jams. Firstly, many drivers are not aware of the rules and regulations of driving. And many others are not willing to abide by traffic rules. Then, vehicles of various velocities ply (41) on the same road, and these differences in velocity cause serious traffic jams. Often it is seen that high-speed vehicles are blocked by low-speed vehicles. Reckless and uncontrolled driving sometimes causes traffic jams. Besides, our cities do not have spacious and sufficient roads for the increasing population. Moreover, there occur serious traffic jams because of water clogging in the rainy season. The consequences of traffic jams are very serious. Office-going people fail to reach their working places in time, and students often cannot attend their classes. Thus people of all classes suffer a lot. But the most tragic impact of traffic jams is that ambulances carrying critical patients cannot reach the hospitals and clinics timely. যানজট হলো এমন একটি পরিস্থিতি যখন রাস্তায় যানবাহনের দীর্ঘ লাইন তৈরি হয়ে যায় এবং গাড়িগুলো একে অপরের পিছনে আটকে থাকে। এটি বড় শহর ও নগরের রাস্তাঘাটে একটি সাধারণ দৃশ্য হয়ে উঠেছে।

যানজটের বেশ কয়েকটি কারণ রয়েছে। প্রথমত, অনেক চালক গাড়ি চালানোর নিয়ম ও বিধি সম্পর্কে সচেতন নন। অনেকে আবার নিয়ম মানতেও নারাজ। এরপর বিভিন্ন গতির যানবাহন একই রাস্তায় চলাচল করে এবং গতির এই পার্থক্য মারাত্মক যানজট সৃষ্টি করে। প্রায়ই দেখা যায় যে উচ্চ গতির যানবাহন নিম্ন গতির যানবাহন দ্বারা আটকে পড়ে। বেপরোয়া ও অনিয়ন্ত্রিত ড্রাইভিং মাঝে মাঝে যানজট সৃষ্টি করে।

তাছাড়া, আমাদের শহরগুলোতে ক্রমবর্ধমান জনসংখ্যার জন্য পর্যাপ্ত ও প্রশস্ত রাস্তা নেই। এছাড়া বর্ষাকালে পানি জমে যানজট সৃষ্টি হয়।

যানজটের পরিণতি খুবই মারাত্মক। অফিস যাওয়ার লোকেরা সময়মতো তাদের কর্মস্থলে পৌঁছাতে পারে না, শিক্ষার্থীরা প্রায়ই তাদের ক্লাস করতে পারে না। সব শ্রেণীর মানুষই অনেক কষ্ট করে। কিন্তু সবচেয়ে দুঃখজনক প্রভাব হলো যে, জরুরি রোগীদের বহনকারী অ্যাম্বুলেন্সগুলো সময়মতো হাসপাতাল ও ক্লিনিকগুলোতে পৌঁছাতে পারে না। এমনকি কখনও কখনও রোগীরা চিকিৎসা না পেয়ে পথেই মারা যায়।

তাই এই পরিস্থিতি আর এভাবে চলতে পারে না। চালকদেরকে এই সমস্যাগুলো সম্পর্কে সচেতন করার জন্য প্রোগ্রাম করা উচিত। কর্তৃপক্ষকে রাস্তাঘাট প্রশস্ত করতে হবে যাতে চালকরা নিরাপদে ও সহজে গাড়ি চালাতে পারে। এছাড়া সব যানবাহনকে নিয়ম মেনে চলতে হবে।
